At West Coast Optical, we have a state of the art computerized 3 dimensional tracer/edging system. With it, we can duplicate the shape of a new frame, or your own frame using the 3 dimensional digital tracer. This machine traces the shape of the frame and transfers the data to the edger.
The edger is a computerized machine that allows us to cut lenses into a frame. We can cut lenses into wraparound sunglasses, semi-rimless and full frames. This machine is so accurate that we can adjust sizing to within 1/10 of a millimetre. What does this mean to the consumer? A perfect fit between lens and frame. No more gaps or stress, so lenses stay in the frame and do not fall out.
This in store lab also enables us to order lenses for customers who want to keep their existing frames. We do not have to send your frame away to have new lenses installed! The customer can keep their frame until the lenses are processed and coated. Upon inspection of the lenses and verification of the prescription, an appointment can be set up for the customer. Most prescriptions take 20-30 minutes to be completed into their frame.
